Congratulations to our Christmas card competition winners! We're so grateful for all of the help we've had from our service users, the amount of effort put into the funders & supporters cards could be seen in the quality and we'll be proudly sending them off next month. We picked three names from a hat from everyone that pitched in and bought the winners personalised gifts - sadly the young person that won too was too eager to start using her hot chocolate kit that we never had chance to get a photo!

We're celebrating #YouthWorkWeek this year in all of our sessions and across the community as youth work has a positive impact on more than just the young people we see in our sessions. We had our service users answer the questions "Why is youth work important in our community?", "What would it be like without youth work?", and "Why is youth work important to me?" and then recorded some of the answers. We put them together in a compilation so we could see what benefit youth work is bringing our area - or more specifically what benefit has been recognised.
The young people also put a video together that showed off all of the rooms in our building that get used day to day in Youth Work aka every single one!
The lead up to Halloween was a fun one at Network! We had tons of games, snacks and mocktails for the young people and community lot to have a go at.
We were so impressed by the costumes everyone came in we wish we'd done a competition.
We're so grateful to De La Pole Lodge 1605 for the generous donation of £150 to the project - part of a charity collection taken at a funeral of one of the Freemasons.
The young people in our Mixed Group enjoyed participating in some wellbeing activities for World Mental Health Day. They enjoyed making salt jars, sponge squishes, and doing a word affirmation scavenger hunt.
The young people took part in a picture quiz to see if they knew any black people that have been pivotal, in shaping the world we live in today as part of the work we did during Black History Month, as well as looking into racism within football.
As part of Sexual Health month, we've focused on the topic a little more than usual in sessions. The young people took part in a sexting awareness and digital safety activity; the older girls tried on the pregnancy belly to see what the weight would be like if they really got pregnant as a few of them had talked about wanting to be pregnant young; we gave out safe sex packs (these included condoms, lube, and a guidance leaflet) to our VEMT group, older Outreach group and older boys group to encourage them to use condoms.
We grateful to have Emma Hardy pop into our coffee morning to discuss any issues our community have been facing recently. They were able to talk over Christmas cards and crafts and Emma has already promised to look into the issues raised in order to help where she can.
