They'd been looking forward to their second credits party after the success of the PJ party, and with slushies, more slime, two swimming pools, and a bunch of fresh fruit, we'd say this lived up to the hype! 

They're already planning their next treat they can earn through credits, and we're seeing a great improvement in how they're treating each other in sessions, so it's a win-win all around. Bring on the next trip!

It's been far too long since we were able to take the young people to the beach, and although we weren't able to take everyone this time, we're overjoyed to have been able to take the older groups to Hornsea for the day! 

We had a laugh taking the bus to get there and back instead of hiring a coach like previous years, but a nice ice cream after all that salty air and sea had us nodding off on the drive back. 

The young people had an amazing time together and we're glad we could facilitate this trip after they had been so eager to suggest it and help plan it. Hopefully, we'll be able to do the same again next year with more good weather and make more memories!

We've been busy in both youth and community sessions the last few weeks, starting on a display inspired by the Fishing History in the Hessle Road area; braiding and threading scrap material and wool to create an abstract scene of the docks. We were also grateful to be able to take our community group to the local Fishing History Centre to see and hear the stories of the families and fisherman from times past. 

We can't wait to see it finished and displayed, everyone has been working hard and have been happy to get involved.

]]><![CDATA[The National Lottery Heritage Fund]]>Tue, 24 Mar 2026 15:45:48 GMThttps://www.hesslerdnetwork.org/network-news/the-national-lottery-heritage-fundWe are thrilled to announce that by working alongside service users from across our project we have developed an exciting new project called Hull’s Hidden Heroes which has been made possible with funding from The National Lottery Heritage Fund. 

We’ve been awarded a grant of £165,340 to support local people to explore the rich history and heritage of our area and thanks to National Lottery Players residents will spend the next 2 years learning more about some of the people and places that have positively impacted on and shaped our community.

As part of this project residents will be supported to create a map and website content that will document the vibrant history and heritage of Hull and will include the videos, art works and photographs that local people produce as a result of their research.
