The Parents and Toddlers group decided that instead of going to the beach this year, they wanted Family Day organising for them at Network with sand play, painting and play dough.
After having our outreach group in every week for the last 5 years, we were happy to be able to take them all on an overnight trip as a treat before they get ready to go off to university after the Summer! The group had a blast playing a variety of sports and taking part in crafts they'd not gotten to do before, as well as leading staff on a walk through the nearby forest. Staff enjoyed getting to celebrate the young people's recent hard work in sessions paying off by treating them to an overnight camp at Raywell Park - the group had often spoken about loving camping in their own time and had asked before about camping with Network. We were all impressed with the cooking skills of the group as well as their creativity through out the crafts and their willingness to participate in the sports we brought with us. The young people even helped staff with their tent! A big thank you to all that dropped by to our Community Summer BBQ. We had a lovely time with some delicious food prepared by our staff and volunteers and some great company. Without our funders, supporters and volunteers, none of this would have been possible!
The young people had an amazing time at East Park after a last minute swap for their Summer trip instead of going to Fraisthorpe (curse you sea pollution!) and the weather was perfect all day. We slapped on some sun screen and let them run riot in the park until they were all tuckered out and ready for lunch and ice creams before heading off again in the water area and animal education centre.
As always, we loved being able to take them out for a day during their school holidays, giving them a free day to relax and hang out with friends at a place they might not have had access to otherwise. After the boisterous day was done, staff had a well deserved nap when they got back to the building before running the evening sessions as usual! |
