Written by: Jo Atkinson We had our annual Remembrance Event on Saturday 9th November. The event ran with military precision It was great to see so many people from the community join us to remember the brave souls who made the ultimate sacrifice. St John's Church was decked out with poppies made from discarded plastic bottles, the poppies were created by members of our Thursday Drop In, the dedicated crafters spent months on the project, and I am sure you will agree it looks amazing. We had a presentation from local historian Alec Gill and a solo performance from Folk Singer, Linda Kelly. Alec's presentation was engaging and informative and Linda enchanted the audience with a fantastic performance, which actually gave me shivers!! Our great friends Hull Community Voices joined us, and Rev Tony led the service, which was both poignant and celebratory. After the service a feast of posh fish finger sandwiches and an array of cakes were served, all donated by Sainsbury's on Bethune Ave. I would like to say thank you, to all the staff and volunteers, all their hard work made it possible.
